The recent chilly temperatures didn’t stop around 30 youngsters from enjoying being out in the fresh air.

They were at Reffley Wood for this month’s Under 5s Out and About woodland trail.

The theme this time was Woodland Winter Warm-Up.

Organiser Amy Ranger said: “We started by warming up by using a parachute to throw balls in the air while we waited for everyone to arrive.

“We followed the trail through the trees which had different animals on.

“And we exercised like animals – ran like cheetahs, stretched like giraffes and hopped like rabbits.

“We also balanced on fallen trees and climbed through hoops.”

The children and their parents enjoyed a well-earned  rest by eating bananas while sitting on a handy well-placed log.

Youngsters then made pine cone bird feeders to take home afterwards.

Ms Ranger added: “Everyone enjoyed it and it was lots of fun. We had a great turn out considering how cold it was.”

The next woodland trail will be Tuesday, March 3 at 10.30am. The theme is set to be What is the Weather?
