FOOTBALL: Downham Town were frustrated in a goalless Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Division One North home draw with Ipswich Wanderers.
Second-placed Downham had the lion’s share of possession, but spurned their many chances.
George Watts-Sturrock hit the upright from a free kick in the first half, while Matty Calvert had a shot cleared off the line and Pat Yates won every ball from corners and free-kicks.
The second half continued in the same vein, with constant pressure from Downham around the Wanderers goal.
Late on Jack Frohawk went through on a one-on-one situation but a bobble sent his effort skyward, before he somehow wrapped his foot around an effort from close range which beat the keeper but bounced off the post, so the game ended 0-0.
MoM sponsored by The Offside Trust was captain Jonathon Sykes.
The club also have a guest-speaking event with former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour which is on Friday, May 15 at Downham Town Hall.
Ticket details will be released soon.
