Safer Summer Staycation

ATHLETICS: A contingent of Renegade Runners and Rockets were present at the Shouldham cross country event on Sunday.

In a closely run u9s race, Luke Anderson had his best performance to date, sprinting to third place in the 800m race in a time of 3.09. He was closely followed by fellow Rockets Thomas Elsdon, Aidan Howard, Rory and Leo Wood in fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places respectively.

Younger Rocket Logan Greenwood also showed his promise with 3.57 in 13th place, as did Rhys Howard, running 4.16 to finish in 17th place.

The girls also performed well, with Lola Kidman coming fifth in the u11s in 9.09.

The hard-training Ruby Smith, in the u13s, ran a course personal best time in the 3k of 13.16 to finish fourth.

Esmie Kidman was fifth.

In the boys u13s, Cody Pearman came sixth in 13.03 and Aidan Beagles gave his best to complete the course 12th.

In the senior men’s race, Danny Smith set a course PB of 19.09 on his way to eighth place. Neil Gayton was 10th in 19.30.

New to the M40 age group, Rob Gosnell ran 24.40 and in the M45s, Albert Koulman ran well to come fifth with a time of 21.08, ahead of Darren Elsdon, 13th. 

In the women’s race, Wobine De Sitter knocked a massive three-and-a-half minutes off her course PB, coming sixth W45 in 25.44.

Across at the Oundle 10K, Steve Farquhar ran his first race, of potentially a big year of races for him, breaking the hour mark to finish with a time of 59. 39.
