The Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s chief executive has apologised for “unacceptably long waits”.
Caroline Shaw said on Twitter there had been an incredible demand for the hospital and staff had been going above and beyond in “challenging circumstances”.
In another Tweet, issued by the hospital, it said a trolley had been delivering refreshments to staff to ensure they are eating and drinking through “pressured times”.
Visitors are also being asked to stay away due to a “high number of patients with confirmed flu and symptoms of the flu virus”.
And if visiting, the hospital is urging only two people per patient in a bid to prevent the spread of infection.
