Children in Terrington St John have a new place to play  following the official opening of the village’s new play area.

Around £15,000 has been invested in the Old Church Road play area.

The majority of the money was provided by the village hall fund, with the parish council paying for the installation.

Parish council chairman Colin Clifton said: “The equipment was installed in June and I’m delighted to see that lots of families are using it.”

There is also a new picnic table with plans to install a second one and a bench in the spring.

The size of the car park has been doubled and the field has been smartened up with new fencing to make it safe for children to play.

Mr Clifton said a petanque ball court could also be installed in the future.

The new play equipment includes swings, a roundabout, toys on springs, a chin bar and a low-level activity centre.
