TABLE TENNIS: The first half of the Heacham Table Tennis Club Internal League season was finished with a great evening at the Christmas Hardbat Doubles Fun Night.

Twelve pairings were put into two groups, with each pairing playing five games of eight minutes duration.

Playing on three tables, pairings had just two minutes between each game to get to their next designated table.

After three games, there was one pairing in each group looking odds-on favourites to win their group.

However, runners-up places were up for grabs until the last game.

In group one, Mike Nobes and Mick Minns came out as winners with Ian Rix and Ivan Parr edging out Benji Richardson and Eileen Needham by just one point to finish as runners-up.

In group two, the winners were Jim and Jeff Race, with Stephen and Aaron Jackson taking second place.

In the semi-finals, the Races beat Rix and Parr, while Nobes and Minns edged home over the Jacksons.

In a close-fought final, it was the Races who just had the edge.

The evening finished with sausage rolls, mince pies, Christmas cakes and biscuits, tea and coffee.

The league restarts on January 6. For a full report and more pictures, visit the www.malc-on-line.co.uk/tabletennis/index.htm website.
