Another £25 up for grabs this month

Remember, £25 is up for grabs again in October for the month’s

top-scoring player.

Points scored in each round go towards a season’s total where the highest-scoring player will pocket the £250 prize in May.

The competition is free to enter, no registration is required and with 48 points up for grab each round, it won’t take long to catch up if you’re only now deciding to get involved.

October month tiebreaker: How many corners will be taken in the Premier League in October? (30 matches)*

* In the event of a tie for the month’s top-scoring £25 prize, the tiebreaker will be used to determine who wins the money.

It will be given to the player with the closest guess to the actual amount of corners that are taken.

Statistically speaking

• Nine of the 16 fixtures in September saw the home side take more corners, down on one in August.

• Five saw away teams take more corners, while two matches were drawn.

• From the 16 chosen games, an average of 11 (when rounded up) corners were taken.

• Neil Goodbourn and Lewis Bush sit in the top 10 of the standings despite missing a round each.

• Joel Wille (twice), Laura Shreeve (twice), Danny Pooley (twice), Amy Anderson (twice), Kevin Bates, Jason Norman, Lewis Cook, Aaden Hayes, Katie Allen, Alex Thaxton, Kyle Nolan and Mike Griggs have been the top scorer, or joint top scorer, in a round.

• Laura Shreeve’s 32 points out of a possible 48 in round three remains the top-scoring performance in a round so far.

• Joel Wille, Amy Anderson and Kyle Nolan were the only entrants from the 29 who played round eight to score any points from the Tottenham v Southampton clash. All incorrectly guessed the home side would get more corners but did correctly predict there would be 12 corners in the match, which saw them collect eight points each.

• Hannah Hornigold, Megan Spriggs, Max Gill and Elise Cornwell did not enter a single round throughout the month.

• Nineteen players have scored more points than our columnist Gavin Caney.
