ATHLETICS: This weekend was one of the most successful in the small history of King’s Lynn’s Renegade Runners.
Helen Driver and Charlotte Dixon set the ball rolling on Friday night with The Forest of Light run in High Lodge completing four laps in the allotted timescale.
A tough Norfolk Coastal Half Marathon faced Irena Marcinek on Saturday but the Polish Renegade had a great run finishing in pole position in the F40 in 1:56:24.
At the Sandringham XK young Renegade runners put in star performances with Cody Pearman finishing 2nd, Leo Wood 4th. It was a win for the Alisha Greenwood in the girls with Issy Wood 2nd girl. Samuel and Oliver Gayton and Logan Greenwood also ran well.
In the 10k race, Steve Franklin was 3rd overall in 41.13. Emma Wood was 2nd lady overall in 43.50 and Louise Franklin was 1st F40 in 52.45. Other Renegades performing well were Martyn Benstead in 46.22 (19th), Steve Greenwood 46.38 (20th) and Chris Wood ran 53.43. Sarah Melton-Whitelam 56.56 (62nd), Jane Perham in 62.03, Sarah Gauvin pacing a friend in 67 mins, Jimmy Hornigold 69.20 and Claire Gayton 71.42. (141st).
At Coltishall on a hot former runway, a tough 10k saw Matt Pyatt finish 7th and 2nd M40 in a strong field of over 800 some of which were victims of the heat.
Ian Wiggins ran a respectable 45.26 followed by Ian Kidman in 47.02. Linus Marray-Woods finished in 54.47, Darren Elsdon coped better than others with 56.05. Alan Dix was next in 58.04. Steve Farquhar was just over the hour in 60.10, Sarah Fisher did well despite a mid race pit stop, for 75.50 and 73 year-old Charlie Pyatt in 82 minutes. Son Matt did an extra lap to make sure his father finished.
There was 2k fun run with fine running from Thomas Elsdon in 12th Lola Kidman 15th and Aidan Howard 67th.
At West Pinchbeck Elisabeth Sennitt- Clough added to the awards bagging 2nd Lady in the 10k in a new PB time of 42.43.
Jo Sedgley completed the Great East Half Marathon at Ipswich in 2 hours 52 minutes.
