OVAL RACING: Following the massive World Final event at the Adrian Flux Arena in King’s Lynn two weeks ago, you may have thought that the next one would fall flat in comparison.
However it was an excellent afternoon of entertaining banger and stock car action last Sunday, with more than 120 competitors in the pits and a superb afternoon’s racing all round.
Kieran Bowman was in the thick of the action as you would expect, nearly last car running in the Destruction Derby event, but sadly finishing second was the best he could do there.
Father and son duo Russell and Callum Gill were also on track, the King’s Lynn based pair finishing in great results, as you would expect.
Russell picked up a race win for his credit in an allcomers, whilst Callum was not up to his usual high standards. He seemingly struggled with the car all day, but a consistent sixth and seventh place were his best finishes.
In the Junior Bangers they were racing for the English Championship and Heacham’s Harry Cobb was one of the favourites.
However, he was sadly caught up in an early incident, meaning he didn’t get in a position to challenge for the win. A credible 10th place was his result, though.
It’s not long until the next event at the Arena, they are coming thick and fast. It’s this Saturday night from 5pm, and with more than 170 competitors involved it’s going to be a good one.
The biggest Micro Banger race of the season, the UK Open Final, sees 90 drivers currently scheduled, plus Stoxkarts, Junior Bangers and Lady Unlimited Bangers are also on the line up in action-packed entertainment for family and friends.
