SWIMMING: West Norfolk Swimming Club members made a fantastic start to the 2019/20 season by retaining the Senior Fenland League title.
The league was contested across two galas and West Norfolk wrapped up the title in the second event at Newmarket.
They fielded two teams, with the A team finishing first in the A final with 220 points and the B team fourth with 136.
Head coach Sarah Vanderloo said: “This is a fantastic start to the season for us.
“It provides a solid base for us to build on as we get back into the flow of galas in the coming weeks, ahead of regional, national and county championships.”
The club won both the boys’ and girls’ 14/u 100m medley relay, girls’ 10/u and 12/u 100m freestyle relay, girls’ 10/u and 12/u 100m medley relay and the boys’ 14/u 100m freestyle relay.
Individual event winners were – Lucie Peck: women’s open 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle; Luke Bryan: men’s open 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke; Wiktoria Marcinek: girls 10/u 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.
Leah Wightman: girls 14/u 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly; Molly Lee: women’s open 100m breaststroke; Harvey Isle: boys’ 14/u 100m backstroke,
Kacie Cooper: Girls 12/u50m breaststroke and 4x25m individual medley; Nathan Wells: men’s open 100m individual medley, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.
