A crocodile, octopus and mermaid were just some of the creations made out of sand, shells, stones and flags on a stretch of the beach at Old Hunstanton.

Families were challenged to make their beach creations as part of the annual RNLI sandcastle competition.

New this year was a separate category for adults to have a go and the organisers, the RNLI Guild, said the competition was well supported.

Local families and visitors holidaying at the coast took part in the event, which is held to help promote the work of the local RNLI voluntary crew. Crew members have had a busy summer so far helping people stranded on sand banks along stretches of the coast and kite surfers and boats in difficulty.
