GOLF: Action Medical Research for Children were the real winners at Heacham Manor Golf Club’s Captains’ Day.
The annual event was played in perfect conditions with glorious summer weather and the course in excellent condition.
A total of 42 golfers competed in an enjoyable social day.
The main event format was a combined team competition with the best three scores out of four on each hole counting.
An individual stableford was also held in conjunction with the team event.
Eleven teams competed with the captains Nick Searle (men), Sophie De Winton (ladies) and Steve Eadie (seniors) teeing off first, hitting pressured drives in front of the spectating members.
The eventual team winners were Tim King, Georgia Dicks, Stuart Allsop and John Shackcloth with 137 points.
Runners-up Tony Thacker, Christine Hughes, Darran Rich and Richard Asker also scored 137 points but lost out on countback.
The men’s individual tournament was won by Chris Watson with 49 stableford points.
Darran Rich took the runners-up place with 47 points.
Junior member Georgia Dicks won the ladies competition with 44 points with past captain Rachel Hodgkinson coming second on 38 points.
A raffle, golfing fines, mulligans, entry fees and a charity auction, helped raise a total of £1,000 for the Action Medical Research for Children charity.
