The organisers of a fundraising appeal for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital are hoping West Norfolk residents will get their teeth into a new money-spinning venture.
A range of snacks will be launched on Monday to help generate cash for the King’s Lynn hospital’s Falls Support Appeal and businesses are being urged to support the appeal by selling them.
A proportion of the £1.20 price will go to the £35,000 appeal to buy much-needed falls prevention and management equipment for the QEH.
The Sandboy pub at Bawsey and Crossways pub at South Everard Street in Lynn have already signed-up to the scheme.
Kat Alexander, Sandboy landlady, said: “We look forward to the launch of the fundraising scheme.
“It’s nice to know that we can offer good quality snacks to suit the various tastes, diets and medical conditions of our customers while doing our best for the Falls Support Appeal again.”
The hospital’s fundraising executive, Laurence Morlaàs, thanked the pubs for starting off the fundraising initiative.
“As a hospital we are aware of diets or restrictions people may have so we are glad to have found these products,” she said.
“We would like to encourage others to contact organiser Tina, try a box and see how they get on.
“All that’s required is to have a bit of space to display the box so it’s an easy way to raise money to support our patients.”
Ms Morlaas is hoping other businesses such as pubs, work places and gyms will get involved. The snacks are suitable for vegetarians and various packs are nut, gluten and wheat free. There are also options for vegans and a selection of coeliac certified, GM free and reduced fat packs.
You can get your teeth into fruit covered snacks, rice cakes, flapjacks, crisps and fruit, nut and seed bars and support the Your Local Paper-backed appeal at the same time.
