Garden furniture and plants worth £1,000 have been stolen from a charity which supports people with brain injuries.

Staff and clients at Headway, based at South Lynn Community Centre, were left “devastated” after thieves struck during the last May bank holiday.

The new garden items had been purchased just days before the incident with funds raised by the Wisbech Ladies Circle.

A table, four chairs, a bench, hanging baskets and flowers were all stolen.

Service manager Gaynor Doy said: “Telling the clients everything had been stolen was difficult.

“The bench had a beautiful plaque on saying it was donated by Wisbech Ladies Circle.

“It’s very upsetting. Gardening is a very important part of rehabilitation.”

Norfolk Police confirmed investigations are ongoing into the theft which happened sometime between midnight May 25 and midnight May 28.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
