An annual sports festival is almost under way in Downham Market with a bumper line-up of sporting fun.

The Downham Market Games is to be held on Sunday at the town’s Memorial Playing Field, which runs from 10.30am to 2pm.

There are six activities within the athletics competition – 100m and 400m runs, javelin and shot putt, standing long jump and high jump.

Entrants who hand in their registration card will receive a medal and a goody bag.

Trophies are due to be presented at 2.30pm for everyone entering the competition.

Participants involved in the community step challenge can hand in their final numbers between 11am and 1pm and they will be entered into a prize draw.

There will also be a chance to win signed football boots by Premier League Club Cardiff City player Josh Murphy.

Other activities on offer will include archery, tennis, Nerf Gun wars, golf, squash, football, cricket and jazzercise.
