MOTOR SPORT: Aaron Alexander and the AA Racing Team are top of the SKS Junior Pro Extreme Kart Championship after overcoming a setback at Shenington.

The first test/practice session for round four of the championship saw the team get the set-up perfect on Saturday.

But recent Shenington problems returned for Alexander in the second session when his front wheel stub axle snapped and he lost a wheel.

The team managed to fix the race kart in time for the next practice session and Sunday saw the King’s Lynn racer qualify on pole and go on to win his first two heats.

The track was damp for heat three but the team made the call to race on slick tyres and save the wets in case it rained heavier in the final.

That saw Alexander finish in fourth place but the plan worked out well because in the final, Alexander was off pole and he crossed the line first to take the chequered flag and regain the series lead.

Alexander and the team are next in race action on the Isle of Man in the Manx GP on June 14, 15 and 16.
