TENNIS: Former Davis Cup players Danny Sapsford and Luke Milligan have been passing on their knowledge to players at Great Massingham Tennis Club.

During their careers the pair have played at Wimbledon and represented Great Britain but, after retiring from the professional circuit, are coaching as part of Bright Ideas for Tennis, a charity that helps clubs to get more people involved in the game.

After junior coaching, master classes were open to adults of all abilities to learn new ideas and techniques.

A fete-like atmosphere saw lots of family games on the field plus a speed of serve competition and a chance to use the ball machine.

In the afternoon, the club’s top court became ‘Centre Court’ for exhibition matches, starring ‘home-grown’ talent in the form of Luca Ramasso, a Norfolk squad player and Massingham junior, Chris Sanders, Massingham coach and Norfolk LTA Coach of the Year and new member Tom Elwick.

They took turns playing doubles with a professional and provided top-class entertainment before members played a tie-break with the pros.

For more details about the club, call Arthur Allen, 01485 520628, or for coaching details Chris Sanders, 07940 428002.
