A goal late in extra-time from Michael Gash secured King’s Lynn Town a place in the National League.

Gash was the Linnets hero when he curled home the winner after 115 minutes to beat Warrington Town 3-2 in Cheshire on Saturday.

That sparked wild celebrations between manager Ian Culverhouse, the players, club officials, and almost 400 jubilant Lynn fans in a sell-out 2,200 crowd.

Lynn had been five minutes away from suffering heartache in the “Super Play-off” final at the Northern Premier League play-off winners until top scorer Adam Marriott buried a penalty to take the tie into extra-time.

Jordan Richards had given the Linnets the lead after 15 minutes but two goals from Ben Garrity put the hosts in the driving seat.

Lynn will line up for the 2019/20 season in National League North, just two promotions from the Football League, alongside teams including Bradford Park Avenue, Chester, Darlington, Kidderminster, Southport, York City and near neighbours Boston United.
