King’s Lynn’s popular Hanse Festival returns on Sunday celebrating the town’s maritime heritage.

The event highlights the town’s membership of the Hanseatic League.

The event starts with a parade of Hanseatic flags led by 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron Air Cadets, setting off from the Tuesday Market Place at 10.45am and heading down High Street towards the Saturday Market Place and onto the quayside.

A procession of walking boats with raised sails will be created by youngsters, while activities for children include building small boats to race across a tank of water.

The Hanse Regatta, featuring boats from all over the country, is at 10am tomorrow (Saturday) and noon on Sunday.

There will also be walks, lectures, training workshops for young sailors, a falconry display and music in King’s Staithe Square.

See for more.
