ANGLING: The coarse fishing season at Nar Valley Fisheries closed with a flurry of big fish, including a site record.
Regular member Wayne Butler put his name to the new record carp, a superb mirror of 47lb 10oz, the latest of an impressive list of big Nar Valley carp for this season.
Lots of good quality carp were caught from Lake Geneva throughout the final week, including a lovely brace for Steve Wallace as he rounded off a good season with fish of 37lb 8oz and 34lb.
Some huge bream also graced the nets of the carp anglers with fish estimated in the 10lb to 15lb range.
Fenn Lake was also on top form in the last few days with a good number of carp in the 20-30lb bracket, the best reported was a shade under 35lb.
These last few weeks have fuelled speculation of an even better season to come when the new season opens.
The 2019 season starts on June 1 with permits available from local tackle shops.
