Edney Costa takes control for West Norfolk at Chelmsford.

RUGBY UNION: West Norfolk’s hopes of booking a place in the final of the RFU Senior Vase were dashed in Essex on Saturday.

They went down 29-14 at Chelmsford after failing to reproduce their recent
high-tempo winning form.

West seemed to be still on the bus as they allowed the hosts to romp 12-0 clear inside the opening 15 minutes and that proved to be the difference between the sides.

They stretched their lead with a converted try before West regrouped and centre Alex Singleton was released to break over the line with the try converted by Sam Moses.

Chelmsford broke again to extend their lead but West replied with Moses converting a second try from Singleton.

The hosts added a late penalty to complete matters,

The Adrian Flux man of the match was Matt Addison.
