Staff at King’s Lynn Academy came into school on a day off to host a special festive lunch for residents aged over 65.

Hayley Lockey, assistant special educational needs co-ordinator and academy food instructor, came up with the idea of providing a free festive lunch and she was supported by colleagues, office staff and staff from the canteen who came into school on the first day of their Christmas holiday to cook and serve more than 100 people.

Those who took up the offer tucked into turkey and all the trimmings followed by Christmas pudding.

They had festive hats and Christmas crackers were on the tables to help diners get into the festive spirit

Staff and pupils had fundraised to pay for the meal, attended by some former pupils including Roseanne Bowyer who attended the school from 1947 to 1951 and Eileen Shorten, a pupil from 1949 to 1953.
