RUGBY UNION: West Norfolk Ladies rounded off their year with a 15-12 victory over Shelford in the fourth round of the Intermediate Cup.

The game was fiercely competitive from the start and it soon became apparent that it was a forwards game as scrum after scrum was awarded and contested.

Shelford took the first points but West retaliated with prop Leah Watson going over the line to narrow the deficit to 7-5 at half-time.

The second half saw Mary Hegarty and Catherine Leach take the ball over the line to put West ahead and, despite Shelford scoring again, West held on for victory.

West looked dangerous throughout with passing between scrum-half Amber Wadlow and fly-half Kathryn Sharp steady under constant pressure.

Terri Sharp also made ground each time the ball was fed to her, with both teams denied tries as defensive play held the ball off the ground.

Claudia Langley was forward of the match and Amber Wadlow was back of the match.
