A traditional village fete has raised a staggering £3,365 which will pay for improvements at a West Norfolk church.

Hundreds flocked to St Mary’s Church in Docking for the seventh Hare Fair.

The church was decked with stalls which offered handmade fabrics, jewellery, wooden goods and food.

The Rev Peter Cook said last Saturday’s event went “very well indeed.” He continued: “There was a very happy atmosphere with visitors and volunteers all getting along and enjoying the day.

“We would like to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers who worked so hard to get the church ready for the day and all those who worked so hard to cater for our visitors on Saturday.

“We are planning to improve facilities for the church for visitors. We would like to install a couple of toilets and make more space for people to mingle at the back of the church by removing a couple of pews. So we will need all of the funds that we can raise.”
