A Runcton Holme man decided his 75th birthday was another opportunity to fundraise for the urology ward at King’s Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Country music fan Les Gaskins, who has regularly organised music festivals with wife Jean, had five bands and a barbecue during an all-day event at the village’s social club.
Some 180 people attended the party and were given the opportunity to make a donation to the cause, raising £964.
Topped up with takings from craft stalls and tombolas held by Jean, the couple presented a cheque for £1,325 to the hospital’s Feltwell ward.
Retired lorry driver Mr Gaskins has spent time on the ward at the Gayton Road hospital on several occasions since 1995.
He said: “We have been raising money on and off for the past 20 years.
“It’s something we enjoy doing. We’re just very grateful to the staff for their care and treatment.”
