Downham Market’s new Little Chippy has been officially opened by the town mayor.

The new business, based  in London Road in the former premises of Keystone estate agents, was honoured by Mayor David Sharman during a special ceremony on Monday.

The chip shop specialises in traditional fish and chips and is open every day from 11.30am to 9pm. It is a takeaway but has three tables for customers who wish to eat in.

Owner Ismail Budak, who already has other Little Chippy businesses in Litcham and Dickleburgh in south Norfolk, said he was delighted to be opening his latest branch in Downham.

“Downham is an expanding town and has really nice people,” he said.

“It is going to be brilliant here. Things have started really well and everyone who has tried the food has come back again.”

Mr Budak has been in the catering trade for 30 years and moved to Norfolk five years ago to open his first chip shop in Litcham.

The Downham business is starting out with four employees and Mr Budak is looking to recruit three or four more.
