Stock car and banger racing round-up
MOTOR SPORT: There was an action-packed weekend at the Adrian Flux Arena with meetings taking place on both Saturday and Sunday at the King’s Lynn motor sport venue.
Saturday saw racing for F1 stock cars, 2L stock cars and F2 stock cars.
Pre-race favourite Stuart Smith took a comfortable victory in the F1 stock cars world championship
semi-final, but Norfolk driver Matt Newson failed to qualify for the final after suffering a failed differential.
Hunstanton’s Willie Skoyles Jnr got back in a winning groove in the 2L stocks with victory in the opening heat but Lee Sampson failed to finish in the points all night.
Sid Madgwick won the final.
Lynn’s Scott Aldridge was in great form in the F2 stocks.
He was unlucky not to win the first heat, when he was overhauled by Sheffield’s Daniel Ford in the closing stages but held on well to come home in second place.
He then put in a great drive in the final to come home in fourth place.
Chesterfield’s Jake Walker put in a great move to get past long-time leader Michael Lund on the final bend to take the win.
Sunday saw banger racing take centre stage.
Terrington’s Ben Green was in fantastic form in the micro bangers, where he raced to a heat and final double.
The 2L bangers saw great performances from Entertainer League pacesetter Kieran Bowman and Ross Cooper, who both picked up entertainer awards, with Stu Carman winning the meeting final.
Stock car and banger racing returns to Lynn for the big one of the year on August 18/19 – the 2L stock car world final – it is going to be one not to be missed!
