Youngsters at Fairstead Community Primary and Nursery School enjoyed a series of activities as part of  healthy living week.

They tried a range of sports to promote healthy and happy lifestyles.

The week began with a special launch assembly where West Norfolk-based World Powerlifting Champion  Danielle Ellington made a guest appearance to inspire the children and held workshops.

This was followed by an afternoon of taster sessions. Youngsters  tried cheerleading, mini tennis and street dance with students from King’s Lynn’s Springwood High School.

Inspiring acrobat Backflip Ben visited the school for an  assembly during the week and held class workshops.

Sports day-style athletic events were also held with traditional races and events last Friday.

Sports co-ordinator Teresa Ellington said: “The athletics races were fun but competitive, with plenty of stickers awarded for winners and also to praise effort and spirit.

“Classes have joined together to show support, which gives each workshop a feeling of community and togetherness in the name of sport.”

The week ended with a finale in which parents also got involved.

The activities included a climbing wall, spider climbing net, yoga workshop, tri-golf, orienteering and smoothie making.

Pupils were also presented with sports packs and certificates to celebrate their achievements throughout the week.
