Downham Market Academy became a school of all things wizardry for a day.
Year five pupils from surrounding primary schools were invited to the academy’s Harry Potter-themed taster day to gain an insight into life at secondary school.
The children’s nerves were soon put at ease when they saw owls perched in the classrooms, and teachers with wands and long cloaks.
Head of year seven, Scott Wilson, said: “It was over-subscribed. The children were excited to see the owls, it was such a good experience for them.”
He said the taster event demonstrated how the secondary school had evolved. “It shows students high schools are not scary places like they used to be.
“I think it shows the capability of our staff, we are a well-run school and we do different lessons throughout the year, not just on the taster days,” he explained. Mr Wilson added the feedback from the event had been “amazing” and Harry Potter-themed taster days were set to be held again next year.
