Former Team GB athletes Richard Buck and Leon Baptiste proved an inspiration to pupils at a West Norfolk school.
The athletes visited Nelson Academy at Downham Market last Thursday as part of the school’s Healthy Living Week activities.
Sprinter Leon and 400m specialist Richard took charge of the assembly and put pupils through their paces at workshops outside on the field.
Pupils were shown sprinting and hurdling techniques and they got to see some of the their medals. Former 100m and 200m sprinter Leon was a 200m gold medallist in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
PE subject leader Lisa William-Ward said: “They were really inspirational. They talked about their backgrounds and the challenges in their own lives.”
The week also included sports day and a family picnic, dance through the decades workshops and fun on inflatable obstacles.
The activities also included other aspects of wellbeing with a visit from a dentist and pupils learned about yoga and meditation.
