The new Wereham Village Hall is being launched with an open weekend.
The £1m facility, the UK’s first accredited Passivhaus-build hall, will open its doors for people to look around and take part in a variety of free activities tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.
Visitors can try yoga, line dancing, crafting and buggy trekking, chat to representatives of new groups and enjoy a free hotdog.
The open weekend will also mark the launch of a new website and online booking system for the hall.
Project outcomes manager, Victoria Gray, said: “It’s with great excitement that we are able to welcome our surrounding communities and local businesses to this innovative new facility and share with them the fantastic opportunities for new activities and services it presents.
“The feel-good factor has definitely arrived and Wereham is very proud of what has been achieved. In addition to the open weekend, the charity will be launching during August a 7.1 Dolby surround sound cinema with the latest pre-DVD releases, a weekday café with a free Wi-Fi hotspot to support communities and businesses with drop in hot-desking.
“Plus, in partnership with the Swann Centre in Downham Market, a new weekly youth group will launch on Thursday, September 13. This is an exciting time for people in our area.”
The hall has been funded with contributions including Big Lottery, LEADER support for rural communities, Sport England, WREN and the Prince’s Countryside Fund.
