TABLE TENNIS: King’s Lynn TTA youth teams enjoyed success at the Norfolk Inter-League Championships against teams from Norwich, Dereham, North Norfolk and Wisbech.

In the u12s, the first team of Max Smith and Colney Vertigan won all their games and finished top of their round-robin table. The second team of Freddie Lo, Chloe Ramsey and Jamie Ramsey narrowly lost out to Norwich and ended up third.

The u18s were among the medals with the first team of Aaron Howell and Archie Rayner going unbeaten to take the title. The second team of Alex Bragg and Finley Hewson finished runners-up, only losing to the first team.

The women’s team of Karen Hubble and Kerry Smith lost 3-2 to Dereham but beat North Norfolk 4-1 to take runners-up spot.

The veterans’ first team of Don Dixon and John Blyth and second team of Rob Rix and Peter Munch played well but did not get any further than the semi-finals.

The men’s senior team was made up of Chuck Hewitt and late call-up Danny Vertigan and were beaten in the battle for third place by Dereham.

Home team Norwich won the day overall but Lynn were second.

λ The Lynn TTA will be running a summer league on Mondays starting on June 25.

The fun competition is open to anyone, even if you have never played before and you do not need to be a member of the Lynn TT Centre. Any player can play for any team, even if he/she has played for another team. 

Teams will consist of three players, two will play two singles matches and a doubles match with the remaining player taking part in three singles.

Entry fee for a team is £50 and matches must start at 7.15pm.
