The Rotary Club of King’s Lynn presented a cheque to Springwood High School student Abigail Peters who has been offered a position at Columbia University in New York.

Abigail was a member of the Lynn school’s team which came third in Rotary’s Worldwide Mock Trial competition in New York last year.

After passing rigorous interviews and exams she was offered a rare full scholarship at Columbia – one of the most prestigious universities in America.

Rotary press officer Ron Jackson said: “As a reward for her achievements, the Rotary Club of King’s Lynn decided to present Abigail with a cheque for £1,150 to assist her with travel and the purchase of the computer equipment she will need to take up the American offer. Abigail has promised to return to the Club at some time in the future to report on her experiences.”
