An historic Downham Market hotel is up for sale with a price tag of £495,000.

Christie and Co is marketing the 3 AA star Castle Hotel on behalf of long-time owners Helen and Howard Fradley, who hope to retire.

“We have had an amazing 27 years here and have watched the business grow from strength to strength but it is now time for us to move our lives in a difference direction,” they said.

The Grade II listed mid- 17th century building has 12 en suite bedrooms, a bar, restaurant, private meeting room and parking for up to 15 vehicles.

It also has self-contained owners’ accommodation and has been refurbished over the years by the owners.

Christie director Tim Gooding said the hotel has been transformed after a full refurbishment and had become “highly profitable”.
