A pair of schoolboy brothers will be trekking 46 miles along the whole of Peddars Way next week to help buy new equipment for their school playground.

Jake and Luke Doddington, aged 10 and nine respectively, will be walking from Thetford to Holme-next-the-Sea, joined by mum Samantha.

The two boys go to Great Massingham Primary School, which is busy fundraising to buy more apparatus for its new trim trail in the playground.

Mrs Doddington said the boys came up with the idea themselves.

“We were looking for somewhere nice to walk the dogs and someone suggested Peddars Way,” she said.

“When the boys saw how long it is they asked if they could walk it all to help the school.

“This is quite a big challenge for them but they are looking forward to it.

“I feel really proud of them. They are good, kind-hearted boys.”

Headteacher Ann Beardall said she was very impressed the boys decided to do the fundraising walk “off their own bat”.

“The school has ‘values for life’ and one of those is service. They are serving the whole community with this and it is very impressive when you think how young they are,” said Mrs Beardall.

The boys have a Just Giving page and collection tins at The Dabbling Duck pub, the village shop, the village hall and the school.
