Eric Carle’s best-selling story The Very Hungry Caterpillar was the theme for the day when families in King’s Lynn enjoyed a woodland walk and activity trail.
The event was organised by King’s Lynn’s Under 5s Out and About Group and took place in a sunny Reffley Wood.
The trail followed the famous story, from the egg on the leaf through to the giant fruits which the caterpillar ate.
Youngsters enjoyed planting sunflowers to take home afterwards and munching on some of the fruit featured in the story.
Every child got their own hungry caterpillar paper hat to wear and take home afterwards, along with a colouring sheet.
Amy Ranger, who organised the free event, said: “The weather was glorious and we had a lovely morning. It was nice to get everyone out to explore the woods and learn the story of the hungry caterpillar.”
The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month at Reffley Wood from 10.30am to 11.45am. Next month’s theme is Insect Explorers.
