A West Norfolk charity is hoping people will cast their votes to help it win a share of money to buy and equip a camper van to be used for outreach services.
King’s Lynn-based West Norfolk Carers has been short-listed for a cash boost as part of the National Lottery’s People’s Projects.
The van would allow the independent charity to take its services into the community to reach family carers of all ages.
Emma Kandjou, family support worker, said: “Lots of people we work with live in villages and it isn’t always easy for them to come to us. This is especially true for young carers – particularly in winter.”
She added the aim would be to support family carers closer to their homes and said: “Our vehicle will be multi-purpose so we can combine young carer activities in the evening with those for adults during the day.”
The charity plans to work with other partners and offer a one-stop shop. It has appealed to the community to get behind the project and vote either online or by post.
Voting is open until Monday, April 30 at www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk
