The wife of Grimston man Mark Redhead, who died last month, has paid tribute ‘a wonderful husband and dad’.

Justyna Redhead, 43, said her husband, who died following a battle with cancer, was one of a kind.

The couple had been married for six years and have a six-year-old son, Oliver.

Mr Redhead, 43, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011 and went through several bouts of chemotherapy and radiotherapy before being told the cancer was terminal.

Friends, family and the community raised more than £35,000 in a matter of days to pay for pioneering brain tumour treatment.

The family travelled to Germany in October where Mr Redhead underwent three weeks of treatment but when they returned home his condition worsened.

He died at home on February 23, the day after his birthday.

Mrs Redhead said: “He has left a big hole in our lives and our hearts and will be greatly missed.

“He was a very strong person, both physically and mentally. He was very generous and a wonderful husband and dad.

“We had a fantastic relationship and were best friends through everything. He would do anything for his family. I need to make sure Oliver will always remember his dad and will know he was the best dad ever. We didn’t have him for a long time but we had the best.”

Mr Redhead, an electrician, had a number of hobbies including cricket, fishing and shooting and loved to be outdoors.

Mrs Redhead also paid tribute to her husband’s close group of friends who had supported the family, his colleagues and the wider community in King’s Lynn for their ‘amazing’ help when the family were fundraising.

Mr Redhead’s funeral will be held on Tuesday at Mintlyn Crematorium at 10.15am.

His shooting friends have been asked to wear their shooting attire, all other mourners to wear smart casual clothing.

Close family flowers only, donations, if desired, for The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House.
