Calling all men in Downham Market.

A West Norfolk development worker is looking to set up a project where men can meet, socialise and work on projects and hobbies.

There will be a meeting on Monday from 2pm to 3.30pm at Downham library to gauge interest in setting up a Men’s Sheds project.

Everyone is welcome to turn up.

A shed project was successfully launched in King’s Lynn in November where a group of men now meet regularly and are in the process of forming a committee and trying to find their own premises.

Rose Waterman, Norfolk County Council development worker who spearheaded the project, hopes to establish a similar group in Downham.

She said: “Men’s Sheds are an amazing concept with sheds running all across the world.

“A Men’s Shed is basically a larger version of a typical man’s shed in their garden – a place for men to get together, socialise and work on projects and hobbies.

“Sheds have been shown to have a whole host of benefits to men’s health and wellbeing, as well as benefitting the community as a whole,” she added.
