A new café at Downham Market’s train station has had a successful start to its journey.

Platform One, which opened on Tuesday, saw a steady flow of customers buy their hot drinks ahead of catching their train.

Owner Jason Sutton said: “We opened at 5.30am and it went well. They say the busiest train is the 7.20am one, so we were fairly busy from around 6.30am onwards.

“We haven’t advertised it on Facebook or Twitter yet, only on the website, so some people don’t know we are here. I am sure it will get even busier during the next month when people start seeing the cafe.”

Last month regular commuter South West Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss was among the first customers to visit the café before this week’s official opening.
