HOCKEY: Pelicans u14s continued their good start to the season with a 13-0 win at Bedford.
Bedford won the toss and chose to start the game but a blistering interception by Poppy Beales saw her combine with Mia Moore to allow Amber Scott to slot in the opening goal after just 39 seconds.
Pelicans were on a mission, pressing the ball into the opposition half, and a short corner, injected by Moore, was smashed home by Beales to make it 2-0.
A solo run on the right wing by Moore saw the ball crossed for Beales to dispatch her second of the game.
Silky stick skills and determination saw Beales complete her hat-trick inside 10 minutes.
The game continued at a frantic pace with Pelicans dominating with fine individual skills and classic passing hockey. Scott added four more to her tally with another goal for Beales and Grace Carrier contributing to the score.
Grace Ashton, Hannah Stoutt and debutante Erin Pattinson, worked hard in midfield, defending well and contributing to the attack as Pelicans went into the break 10-0 up.
Pelicans slowed the pace after the break with their work virtually done.
Even so, Moore added two more with another each for Beales and Scott.
Defenders Chloe Papworth, Rebecca Bush, Katie Page and player of the match Emily Pluck worked tirelessly with goalkeeper Lucy Sagrott.
