Four charities have received a boost from members of King’s Lynn Lions Club after a successful light railway weekend.
Representatives from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), the NSPCC, Lynn Samaritans and North West Norfolk Explorer Scouts supported members with a two-day fundraising event at Norton Hill light railway during the summer.
The Snettisham-based miniature railway, owned by Mike Schumann, opened-up for three charity weekends.
The EACH cheque also included donations from past district governor Lion Don Peach and wife Elaine and Lion Jim Taylor, who organised a game and exhibition.
The NSPCC donation will go towards a ongoing local Speak Out project with school children, while the money for the Samaritans was for a listening campaign. The Scout group planned to use the donation for new equipment.
Special thanks were given to Mr Schumann and helpers for allowing the event to take place.
