Scenes with special guests at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham. Pictures: Matthew Usher

Animals and a real baby as Jesus stole the show at  the second annual Christmas service with a difference at St Mary’s Church in Snettisham.

More than 300 people gathered in church with a menagrie of donkeys, goats, ponies, sheep, rabbits and Guinea pigs.

The animals, transported to the church from Snettisham Park, helped to make the service special along with a new born baby, a grandson of one of the members of the congregation, who starred as Jesus in the Christmas story.

The service was conducted by   team Rector Veronica Wilson, assisted by team Vicar, the Rev Captain Paul Niemiec.

Local children gave readings and youngsters from the village primary school sang carols and festive songs.

Floral arrangements in the church included red carnations added in memory of loved ones.

There was also mince pies and spiced apple juice.

The church also has more than 60 Advent wreaths which will be on display until Saturday, January 6, from 9am.
