An RAF Marham amateur rally team is set to compete in one of the most challenging motorsport events against some of the world’s best.
The RAF Typhoon Team has been accepted to compete its Subaru Impreza at the Wales Rally GB. The team, whose sponsors include East Winch-based business Adrian Flux Insurance, comprises engineers and staff from the station.
Team driver and chief technician Christopher Daykin said: “Adrian Flux Insurance has been one of our team’s sponsors for the last 10 years now and the company’s support has helped us progress significantly.”
He said it was an “outstanding achievement” to earn the chance to compete in the event.
Craig Darwin, owners’ club manager with Adrian Flux, said: “It has been a pleasure to sponsor the Typhoon team and watch them go from strength to strength.”
The rally car was taken to a recent workshop at King’s Lynn’s Hardwick Industrial Estate where youngsters from Open Road West Norfolk were able to carry out minor maintenance.
