Hilgay Parents and Toddlers group will be holding a fundraising pumpkin party tomorrow (Saturday) and hope to attract some new members.

The event will be at Hilgay Village Hall from 2pm to 5pm. There will be a pumpkin carving competition, a Halloween fancy dress competition, lucky dip, face painting, stick-on tattoos, jewellery making, stone painting and a range of arts and crafts.

Cheryl Nadin-Hurley, who runs the group, said: “We want to raise awareness of the group and attract some new members.

“We are currently running at a loss and we want to raise some funds for a Christmas party for the children.”

Local businesses have donated a range of prizes, including a pass for Church Farm at Stow Bardolph and a gift voucher for Reeds of Downham Market. Refreshments and cakes will also be available.

Dent’s Farm Shop at Hilgay has donated fancy dress prizes and Morrisons has donated pumpkins.

There is free entry to the event, but a small charge for each activity.

The parent and toddler group meets every Wednesday from 9.30am to 11am.

All are welcome to the group –members don’t have to live in the village – and can attend and try the first week for free. After that, the cost of the group is £1.50 per session.

Each week, the children take part in a range of craft activities and there are plans for interactive book time and music time.
