Staff from eight firms in King’s Lynn pushed pedal power to the limit in a bid to triumph in the latest business challenge.

The pedal go-kart competition last Friday was the third of this year’s business challenges, organised by the Vancouver Quarter.

The challenges were started four years ago as a way for companies in the town to get out and meet each other.

Events are usually held in the Vancouver Quarter, but the latest challenge took place on the Tuesday Market Place.

Teams rose to the challenge in some wet conditions and, as the laps were clocked up, staff from Primark, KL.FM and Wilko exited in the early rounds.

Enthusiasm mixed with a slippery surface saw some thrills and spills and the team from Boots went on to narrowly pip Studio 20a to the finish line in the final.

Teams from Ring Associates and Your Local Paper finished third and fourth respectively.

Vancouver Quarter marketing and events assistant David Blackmore said: “It was great to have so many teams take part. My thanks to all who participated.

“This was the first time we’ve used pedal karts and the teams had a lot of fun pedalling their way around the track.

“Despite the wet and slippery conditions, there was some pretty impressive cornering from members of each team.”

The final event of this year’s series will be a mystery challenge at the end of October.

The team with the most points at the end of the series will be crowned challenge champions and a donation will also be made to a charity of their choice.

Current series leaders are Studio 20a with Boots, Primark and Ward Gethin Archer close behind.
