Three hundred hens are clucking at the bit to be re-homed in King’s Lynn this weekend and avoid the slaughter house.

The British Hen Welfare Trust is holding a re-homing day on Sunday after the feathered friends became available at the last minute.

Andy Beecroft, Norfolk co-ordinator, said: “We urgently need to find homes for these hardworking hens.

“You’ll be saving their lives, they make wonderful pets and they’ll lay you eggs in return.

“It’s so rewarding watching them explore their new surroundings and it’s amazing how quickly they start doing things like dust bathing and scratching for bugs, which they’ve never had the chance to do before.

“If you can re-home some hens please get in touch.”

Anyone interested in giving these hens their forever home should register at bhwt.org.uk and call 01884 860084.
