FOOTBALL: A first-half masterclass from King’s Lynn Town secured a place in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday at The Walks.

The Linnets blew away Midland League opponents Coleshill Town 4-1 after surging into a four-goal lead inside the opening 24 minutes.

The visitors had the first chance inside the opening minute when Liam Molesworthy fired narrowly wide.

But from then it was all one-way traffic with Lynn taking full control.

A delightful passing move involving Michael Clunan and Craig Parker after seven minutes saw the ball go wide to Frazer Blake-Tracy whose ball across goal was tapped home by Leon Mettam.

Lynn quickly doubled their lead when Mettam turned provider to play in Ryan Hawkins

Mettam added his second after 18 minutes when a lovely weighted pass from Craig Parker found him inside the box and he drilled home the ball.

Three became four after 24 minutes.

August player of the month Cameron Norman got his name on the score sheet when a superb pass from Parker found him and he smashed the ball into the top corner.

The visitors got themselves on the scoresheet inside the opening minutes of the second half when Daniel Tymon fired a rocket from 25 yards past Alex Street.

With the game coming to an end, Lynn substitutes Michael Gash and Toby Hilliard linked up but Hilliard firing into the side netting.

The Linnets reward is an away tie at National League North side Nuneaton Town on Saturday, September 16 with £4,500 in prize money awaiting the winners.
