The sun shone for Sunday’s Heacham Carnival parade and fete.

The event was well attended and supported by villagers.

There was no overall theme to the parade of floats, but the parish council dedicated its float to marking the 400th anniversary of the death of Pocahontas.

Trophies were presented for the best decorated floats. Best family was awarded to Mr M McGinn’s Bob the Builder float, best group went to the judo club for Willy Wonka and Rainbows won best junior entry for Pocahontas.

Josh Chilvers won best adult entry for Grumpy Old Woman. The best overall award went to the Guymer family for its Star Wars-themed float of The Forces of Heacham.

The City of Norwich Brass Band accompanied the parade, which started from College Drive on its route to the sports field.

This year’s street collection was for mental health charity West Norfolk Mind.

There were displays, stalls and entertainment on the field and an all day car boot sale.
