ATHLETICS: West Norfolk AC competitors won three gold and a silver medal at the Eastern Counties Championships.
Lucy Koenigsberger took silver in the shot and gold in the hammer (48.97m).
Matthew Bailey won the senior men’s 110m hurdles (16.12sec) for the third year running and James Greenhalgh won the 400m hurdles senior and u20s race (59.7).
Greenhalgh showed no signs of tiredness the following day in the Youth Development League Premier Division, winning the 400m hurdles A string in a club record time of 57.72.
He was also second in the 110m hurdles (15.5), while Charlie Williams won the B string shot (10.83).
Nathan Protheroe won the B string 110m hurdles (17.0) and Rahim Benson was first in the B string 400m hurdles (62.14).
Alfie Williams finished just outside the top six in the Eastern Combined events Championships in Bedford, gaining a 1.62m high jump personal best height.
Eleven West Norfolk athletes represented Norfolk at the Anglian Schools athletics competition in Cambridge.
Alfie Williams won his shot putt event (12.44), Arthur Knight the hammer (32.63) and Lucy Koenigsberger the hammer (48.76).
Lucy Edwards secured a win in the long jump (5.03) and Michaela Raine came third in both the 100m and 200m sprints (13.2 and 27.0).
Rahim Benson won both his events, jumped 12.52 in the triple jump and 6.23 in the long jump.
Nathan Protheroe was second in a close fought hurdles race in a PB 16.3, while Harry Knight threw 12.43 for second place in the shot.
Lucy Koenigsberger, Lucy Edwards and Alfie Williams have been chosen to represent team Norfolk at the English schools Championships in Birmingham next weekend.
Two West Norfolk sprint hurdlers competed in the National u20 and u23 Championships at Bedford.
Both ran seasons best performances. Matthew Bailey (u23) ran 16.14 and James Greenhalgh (u20 but competing in the u23 event) 16.27.
